What are Lift Stations for?

A septic system will include a lift station if your septic tank has to be located below the drainfield. When your septic tank is below the drainfield, wastewater will need to be lifted up to the drainfield, since gravity cannot do the job. A lift station is responsible for transferring wastewater up to a higher elevation.
